The Planet Formation and Evolution Workshops bring together scientists from the fields of star and planet formation, solar system research, protoplanetary and debris disks, extrasolar planets, astrobiology and related disciplines. The intention is to stimulate discussion among scientists using different approaches, such as observations, theory, high-performance computing, and laboratory studies. Since 2001, meetings in this series were held approximately every 1.5 year at different locations throughout Germany.

The 14th meeting will be hosted this year at the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) in Göttingen. While this meeting will follow the overall format of previous meetings, it will also include a broad discussion about the needs of the German community for such meetings in the context of ongoing and upcoming ground - and space-based projects.
